What is Tango a Tiempo?
Tango
a Tiempo teaches a step by step connection to the music and rhythm of
traditional tango.
Ocassionally, the course will work all dancers in a
'chorus line' environment in strict
rhythmic synchronisation to the music.
Tango enlightenment is like peeling back the skin of an onion. Each
layer reveals the next. A clumsy or hurried process of learning (or
teaching) can unwittingly take more than one layer of skin off and rob
the dancer of the understanding it would have provided.
Each week, we teach a carefully
paced lesson, light on words and full of dance practice to help you see
your dance from a new and challenging perspective.

Course content.
On our first introduction to tango many teachers encourage us to think
of the dance as a walk in an embrace. As we progress as dancers, we
need to make a distinction between 'walking' and 'moving as a dancer at
a walking pace with the music'.
Tango is like a river. The line of dance sometimes flows, sometimes it swirls and eddies.
You will discover ways to use pauses, suspensions, cortes, and to
develop an inner dance dialogue with your partners. Debbie and I
actively encourage the woman to be active in her role in the embrace.
Steve brings his understanding of and ability to clearly teach
tango technique and his life-long experience as a musician to empower your tango.

Do I need to book?
No. The course is open to all with admission of £10 paid on the
door. In the first week we had one extra woman, and the class changed
partners regularly.
What level of dance do I need to have achieved?
The
minimum standard for both men and women is a basic ocho and giro
and cross, an embrace which communicates the axis and balance of both
dancers, and the ability to lead and
follow in parallel and cross basic.
Steve and Debbie look forward to seeing you in July.
