ast week I was teaching and dancing at the Tango Mango in Totnes. This superb event provides the means and the possibility to dance until reality fades and a meditive state begins.

In the corner of the milonga stood a grand piano, close to the line of dance. On it was a sign...
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (and then in smaller text underneath)
to be placed on our concert piano.

Slowly, over the hours and then the days, with each consecutive time that I passed it the first two words became more and more meaningful.
Piece by piece I discarded the baggage that conscious thought burdens me with until I was aware of  moments in the dance when I felt like there was absolutely nothing except the music and the sharing of the dance.
But then the sign would also mock me when I passed by without any feeling of connection.
Slowly, I came to realise how rare and fragile these fleeting moments of tango connection are. To allow such moments to happen, we must not try to create or possess them - but simply cherish them when they occur.
