A Saturday workshop in the beautiful New Forest, Hampshire with 5 hours of
carefully paced, effective tuition by acclaimed UK teachers  followed by a dance party (milonga) where you can join in or watch and learn from more experienced dancers.

Want to sizzle on the dance floor?

Tango Toolkit is a dance workshop for absolute beginners and improvers where you can learn the basics of dancing tango. Following the success of Tango Tangk weekends, tango teacher Steve Morrall and his wife and dance partner Debbie Morrall have prepared a day of workshops for people with no previous experience who want to learn to dance tango the argentinian way. Over the last three years we have organised more than 20 tango workshops to much acclaim. Read customers comments about previous Tango Toolkits and Tango Tangks.

Above: Pictured at La Rogaia, Umbria, Italy where they recently taught a one week tango improvers course.

We are teaching at La Rogaia again in May 2008. If you are interested in combining wonderful italian food, the beautiful rolling hills of Umbria, visits to Florence and other great Italian cities and TANGO, please email us for more details.

Romanticism is not dead,
it just needs a little encouragement...

Steve and Debbie teach internationally at tango workshops in Europe and the UK. For Steve and Debbie, tango is more than just teaching dance. It is an emotional journey where new dancers can discover ways to be creative, to communicate without words and to respond and adapt in a constantly changing environment. It is an affirmation of mind, body and spirit and the pleasure of intimate contact with another person.

Read feedback our classes:

"You are a great teacher - funny, witty, sensitive, use lovely visual images and have an ability to draw out what is hiding in the drama and emotions of the dance."

"Thank you so much for such a wonderful, exhilarating, educational, amusing, - at times frustrating - but thoroughly enjoyable weekend of tango.  You both worked so hard to make the weekend a great success.
You both have a warm and enabling approach to teaching which is especially welcome for our older brains and bodies!"

In each tango lesson, Steve and Debbie teach simple techniques in a fun and absorbing way, using traditional and alternative tango music. Newcomers are introduced to sharing a tango embrace sensitively, understanding and playing with tango balance and axis, learning to communicate tango moves through intention, and shaping and using their body like a authentic tango dancer. At the end of the weekend tango course, students will be able to dance basic tango in a social gathering. TOP

Right: A class underway at Bramshaw. The superb floor and bright airey room makes it ideal for dance classes.

As tango teachers, Steve and Debbie understand the challenges of learning to dance and strive to make each tango class as easy and enjoyable as possible - read about our techniques in the Tango Pink Papers. We make absolute beginners tango fun!

The day takes place at Bramshaw village hall on the edge of the New Forest, near Southampton in Hampshire, 10 minutes from junction 1 on the M27. The hall has a sprung dance floor, plenty of car parking, good kitchen and lots of local B&Bs. See directions and a picture.

Tango Toolkit is comprised of:

(1) a full day of tango lessons for absolute beginners;

(2) a special evening of dance with modern and traditional tango music on Saturday evening where we will be joined by more experienced dancers;

See full programme listing and times in the blue panel >>>>

Please bring a packed lunch for Saturday, and something to share for supper (see food and drink below). There is a fully equipped kitchen. We will provide hot and cold drinks and biscuits for tea breaks. TOP

Workshops
All workshops will be led by Steve and Debbie Morrall. We do not teach steps or sequences - concentrating more on component techniques and holistic principles of the dance. We have found this method encourages confidence, improvisation and creative expression and gets people dancing faster. All our workshops are designed to be fun and engaging, and stimulating for both mind and body. TOP

Levels
The workshops are progressive, and absolute beginners joining us for the first time on Saturday morning should be able to dance simple basic tango in the evening Milonga. TOP

Clothing and Footwear and other tips
Wear loose comfortable clothing for the workshops, but bring something a little smarter to wear for the evening milonga. There are washroom facilities but no showers. Be kind to your feet and wear smooth soled shoes which slide easily on a wooden floor. Tango brings you into close and personal contact with dance partners so, guys and girls, make yourself smell gorgeous. We supply mints but you may want to bring your own mouth fresheners as well. TOP

Food and Drink
Creating a sense of community and sharing help breaks down the barriers of dancing intimately with another person. During the day, we encourage people to share not only their dance, but the preparation and eating of food at mealtimes. Bring food to share at supper that is easy and quick to make into a large meal. Pasta, cheese, rice, quiches, pizzas etc. Vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters - cater considerately please. There is a licensed bar at Bramshaw open in the evening on Saturday. TOP

After the toolkit...
There is a lot on offer. Your new found confidence in dance can be enjoyed at regular events in this area. If you are keen to further improve your tango skills, there are group lessons in Southampton, private lessons locally by arrangement and workshopswith visiting teachers from around the world. In 2008 we are introducing a new workshop called Tango Bodywork which follows on from the Toolkit.  TOP

Of course it takes two to tango
All of our workshops require you to come along with someone to learn to dance with. Bring a friend, bring a colleague, bring anybody (of the opposite sex) who wants to learn to dance. Our workshops are designed for an equal number of leaders and followers to create the best learning environment for all participants.

The old saying 'it takes two to tango' is unavoidably true for us. So pin a notice in your office, take out a small ad, drop BIG hints, leave messages in your hubbies lunchbox, wear a "I'm learning tango T shirt' or just simply ask someone if they want to learn to dance tango the argentinian way - most people, men and women, have a secret aspiration to 'tango'. Turn up with someone to learn to dance with and we'll do the rest.
